In tribute to the brilliant Soul of a Nation exhibition, Tate Modern is hosting a 3-day ‘closing party’. A jam packed weekend of US craft beer, soul food, soul music and Hip Hop Karaoke:

The weekend will kick off on Thursday evening with a Tap Takeover from top US craft brewery, Brooklyn Brewery. Led by award winning brew-master Garrett Oliver, Brooklyn Brewery is renowned for creating exceptionally great tasting craft beers that set trends, introduce new and innovative brewing methods and always deliver on flavour.
The taps will showcase five Brooklyn Brewery beers that give a good mix of styles and flavours. From their much-loved Brooklyn lager to their Post Road Pumpkin Ale. As well as a brewer talk, Brooklyn will be exhibiting some brewery artwork and a painting by numbers activity. On Friday and Saturday night, after a couple of Brooklyn beers, guests will have the opportunity to channel their inner performer when Hip Hop Karaoke invites amateur rappers to the stage!
The UK’s original Hip Hop Karaoke is a true London and national fixture and for the last decade DJ Rob Pursey, host Bobby Champagne Jr. and the HHK team have helped thousands of people live out their rap fantasies live on stage! With hundreds of songs to choose from, this is your chance to experience what it’s like to feel real crowd energy as you take on the rhymes of your favourite rappers. Whether it’s old school gems from the 80s, 90s and 00s or the latest records from Drake, Nicki and Kendrick, Hip Hop Karaoke is the place to let go of all inhibitions and feel the exhilaration of smashing it live on stage.
Vinyl obsessive, Hip-Hop, R&B & Soul DJ Rob Pursey says: “Hip Hop Karaoke is a euphoric, addictive experience and definitely something to cross off the bucket-list!” Rob will be playing soul inspired by Soul of a Nation and drawing on his vast music knowledge to make for a closing party to remember.
The food offering will reflect the rest of the weekend with a selection of soul food including buttermilk fried chicken, corn slaw and creole fries.
