This Sunday Session took us on a trip to Waitrose (for the beer selection, obviously) and a couple of bevvies for a quiet night on the sofa.
Blanche de Namur (4.5%)
It poured a hazy, golden yellow with a white head. It was hoppy to the nose as you might expect, but there was also a nice swell of fruitiness there. The taste was mellow, sweet, coriander and orange peel with just a hint of bitterness. This would go really well with a nice casserole (now that’s an idea).
It’s won a few awards, most recently best Wheat beer in the world at the international competition International Beer Challenge 2013. At 4.5% it’s a good session beer and, as a Belgian wheat beer is one of my favourite styles, I’ll certainly be buying this again.
