Koyo Red Ale mixes the Sorachi Ace hop from Japan, known for its unique and distinctive taste profile with lemony undertones, with the popular aroma-hop Cascade and its fragrant, floral character. Combined with a selection of speciality malts to give the colour, the result is a 4.5% well balanced beer with a sweet malt finish and notes of lemongrass and coconut.
Created by the innovative Big Hug Brewing alongside Andrew Downs of Tate, Koyo Red Ale has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the Uniqlo Tate Lates partnership while appreciating the beauty of the Japanese Koyo.
Andrew Downs, Tate, notes: “To celebrate a year’s partnership between Tate and Uniqlo we are thrilled to present the Koyo Red Ale in association with our friends at Big Hug Brewing. With Koyo Red Ale we paid careful attention to the balance of flavours, specifically using the Sorachi Ace hops for their citrus hints.”
Big Hug Brewing creates craft beers with bold flavours. The small community-minded brand are self funding and work with larger brewers to bring their taste visions to life as part of the modern ‘hobo brewing’ trend. Koyo Red Ale was brewed with Welsh based Lines Brew Co and offers a refreshing and considered beer, perfect for art-enthusiasts enjoying an evening at the Tate Modern.
